Volunteer Training
Scheduling
- Please work out a schedule
with the program director or volunteer coordinator. This helps us to be more efficient in
planning activities. If you would
like to volunteer on short notice, please be sure to call ahead. Sometimes we have too few volunteers and
sometimes we have too many.
- Because all volunteers are
scheduled, please do not bring additional people with you to your service
site (including friends, family, or significant others) without prior
arrangements.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: If you have scheduled and are
unable to come, please give as much notice as possible to the program
director or volunteer coordinator.
Short notice cancellations can compromise our ability to properly
provide daily services to our clients.
- Please sign in at time of
arrival and departure. We have three
Sign In books: one for Groups, one for Individuals and another for Court/School Community Service Volunteers.
- If you are completing hours
for school or court mandated community service, remember to also complete
your time in the Community Service book.
- If you are volunteering to compete Community Service hours, please inform the Volunteer Assistant when you initially schedule.
Community Service Hours
- Please note that you are
responsible for scheduling the necessary number of hours for assigned
community service.
- Those performing community
service are responsible for signing in both the Individual Volunteers book
as well as keeping a running list of their hours in the Community Service
book. This list of hours is helpful
in reviewing and verifying completed hours.
Work
- Please follow the directions
of the supervising staff or volunteer assistant. If you have any questions about your
work or procedures, do not hesitate to ask.
- When you complete an assigned
task, please ask a staff member or the volunteer assistant for
additional work.
- Please clean the work spaces used – it will stay
clean if we can all keep it clean!
Dress
- Appropriate dress
suitable to the work you will be doing is expected and important for Martha’s
Table to be compliant with health regulations and to ensure a positive
experience. Recommended: comfortable
shoes, clothes that may be stained from work with food or children, closed toe
shoes or sneakers.
- Please do not wear
short skirts (especially in the daycare), no short shorts, revealing tops, or clothing with profane or inappropriate
language or images.
