Frequently Asked Questions

How can I sign up to volunteer?

Call our volunteer program at 202.328.6608 ext. 212 or email Turn on JavaScript! to find out Martha's Table’s needs and scheduling availability.

Can I complete my school required/ court-mandated community service with Martha's Table?

Depending upon our needs, availability in schedule, and the feasibility of completing your service by an assigned date, we can arrange for you to perform your community service with us.  Because of certain regulations with government contracts and our close work with food and children, we reserve the right to decline those with certain charges.

Where are you located and where should I park?

We are at 2114 14th Street, NW, between V and W streets.  All parking in this area is on-street; some spots are limited to two hours or have parking meters.

So, how should I get to Martha's Table?

You can carpool if coming as a group.  We are also very accessible by Metro:

  • By Metrorail – U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo on the Green Line is our closest station.  Exit from the 13th Street Exit.
  • By Metrobus – We are serviced by the 14th Street Line buses which include the 52, 53, and 54 buses.  Please note that the schedule differs on weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
  • You can find all Metro information at wmata.com or 202.637.7000.

Is my 10 year old too young to volunteer?

We often have a highly supervised group of 7 year old children volunteer in food preparation with us!  So, children are welcome.  We do ask for you to be realistic about the children’s attention span when scheduling; our food preparation shift lasts 3 hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Consider scheduling your family or group for a shorter, 2-hour shift.
