If You Were President...

By Kris Jensen, Development & Volunteer Coordinator | November 06, 2012

“If you were elected President, how would you accomplish your goals?”

This is just one of the pointed questions heard at the Martha’s Table Bridge Program Presidential Debate. There was electricity in the air as the candidates went head to head for the title of Bridge Program President and Vice President. A few of the duties of these very important positions will include serving as the spokespeople to staff and program stakeholders, making program recommendations and enforcing the program rules and procedures.

The students were articulate, passionate and each made a strong case for their candidacy. The voters in the Bridge Program Presidential Election are going to have some tough choices ahead of them in today’s election. Tune in tomorrow for the results!

Here’s a snap shot of the Bridge Program Presidential and Vice Presidential ballot:

Katie, age 11, is the current President and is running for a second term stating, “If I am President again, the Bridge Program will be more exciting.”

Deborah, age 12, is running for President to “Make the program’s field trips more fun and educational and to improve behavior.”

Randy, age 11, is running for President “To make the program more fun for the people.”

Jonathan, age 10, is running for the position of Vice President “So that we can have fun field trips and so people don’t fight.”

Erin, age 11, is running for Vice President “To give new ideas to the President.”

Zania, age 10, is running for Vice President because, "Her peers can have better behavior by making sure they know why they need to behave the right way.”

We wish all the candidates the best of luck in today’s election!
